Luxury Italian watchmaker Panerai has launched its latest timepiece, the Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica (PAM01674), during Miami Design Week 2024. This bold new model, characterized by an all-black aesthetic and robust ceramic construction, reflects both the fair’s commitment to innovative design and Panerai’s storied legacy.
Part of the iconic Luminor collection, the PAM01674 showcases a sleek, monochromatic design featuring a 44mm case and bracelet crafted from advanced Panerai ceramic. This high-tech material, made from Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), is remarkably durable, with hardness levels up to five times greater than steel, and exhibits exceptional resistance to heat, scratches, and corrosion. The use of this innovative ceramic reinforces Panerai’s blend of sporty sophistication.
Powered by the P.9012 calibre, the PAM01674 boasts several practical features including a central hour display, GMT function, power reserve indicator at 5 o’clock, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The GMT function allows wearers to track two time zones, catering to the needs of global travelers. Notably, the power reserve indicator features the Italian word ‘ORE’ (meaning ‘hours’) inscribed elegantly on the dial, reflecting Panerai’s Italian heritage while offering a three-day power reserve.
The watch’s matt black sandwich dial enhances legibility in low-light conditions, with indices and hands coated in grey Super-LumiNova X1. The luminous GMT hand highlights a second time zone, celebrating Panerai’s nautical roots. The modern bracelet, inspired by designs from the early 2000s, embraces a minimalist approach, harmonizing with the overall philosophy of “less is more.”
The Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica (PAM01674) is priced at $19,100 and is available at Panerai boutiques starting December 3, 2024.
