NICKELODEON’S NICK NEWS HIGHLIGHTS ALTERNATIVE LEARNING AND EXPLORES THE FUTURE OF AI IN BRAND-NEW EPISODE PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29

Nickelodeon will air a brand-new episode of its award-winning series Nick News, Wednesday, March 29, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT), providing an insider’s look at the student-run school in Massachusetts where there is no syllabus, curriculum, or standardized instruction. The episode also introduces viewers to the future of AI and its possibilities, as well as a segment on the fastest kid in the nation.

Nick News March installment will feature:

  • The Sudbury Valley School: Nick News correspondent Taylor Cassidy spends the day at the original Sudbury K-12 school, where students have complete autonomy over their education. The school is run by a democracy committee where students and staff are equal. Viewers will get a sense of how this unconventional school system functions.
  • Kids Get Candid: A segment featuring a cross-section of kids from across the U.S.  documenting their daily school lives in their own words.
  • Exploring AI: Nick News correspondents Tejas Hullur and Jane McManus explore the various remarkable applications of AI and discuss the pros and cons of the evolving technology.
  • Amazing Kid: A profile of eight-year-old Dakota White, who has been labeled the fastest kid in the nation. Dakota broke a Junior Olympics national record which helped her team win a title at the AAU Junior Olympics in the under-eight category.

Nickelodeon’s Nick News has won 10 Emmys, a Peabody, a Columbia DuPont, and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for Journalistic Excellence, the first and only time it was given to a children’s program.  The show originally aired for 25 years, ending with the retirement of creator and original host Linda Ellerbee in 2016. Created with a core ethos of respecting its kid audience, the show explained world events in a direct way, and always ensured kids were given a platform to voice their opinions and a safe place to question the world. Nick News made its return in 2020 with a special hour-long presentation Kids, Race and Unity: A Nick News Special, hosted by global superstar Alicia Keys. Nick News is executive produced by Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, Vice President of News Programming, Nickelodeon and Executive Producer of Nick News.
