10 a.m. NASCAR Foundation presentation ceremony
WHERE: Homestead Hospital
975 Baptist Way (Campbell Drive, SW 312 Street, and SW 147 Avenue)
WHO: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Bobby Labonte and David Ragan will visit sick children in The Betty Jane France Children’s Emergency Center, called Speediatrics.
They will then join Betty Jane France, NASCAR Foundation Founder and Chairwoman, who will make a special presentation to Homestead Hospital and be honored for her vision, work and dedication to Speediatrics.
WHAT: Homestead Hospital is one of two hospitals in the country to receive Speediatrics, founded by Betty Jane France and supported by The NASCAR Foundation. The cheerful motorsports décor helps ease the hospital experience during more than 23,000 patient visits each year. The unique eight-bed unit is decorated with checkered flags, race cars and cartoon characters named Curves, Traxx, Six-Speed and Clutch. It is the only emergency center in south Miami-Dade County dedicated to children.
