Music at MOCA presents Electronic Musician Nicolas Jaar LIVE at Mondrian Fri Dec 7

Electronic music prodigy Nicolas Jaar will perform a sensational live concert  on Friday, December 7 at The Mondrian Hotel(1100 West Avenue) in South Beach as part of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s comprehensive Art Basel Miami Beach  programming. The world-class show, Jaar’s first ever in Miami, will feature his most recent work using a new band format consisting of an array of keyboards, synthesizers and his own singing on a vintage microphone.  Presented by Forevermark, the responsibly-sourced diamond brand from the De Beers group of companies,  and produced by Too Live, Inc. and Rum Bum Records Live, the concert will  launch a newly invigorated Music at MOCA series.

Tickets for Music at MOCA: Nicolas Jaar LIVE are $25 General Admission and $5 for MOCA Shaker or above members. VIP tickets are $40  and include complimentary  drinks and access to dedicated balcony seating during the concert.   Tickets will be available on the MOCA website www.mocanomi.org.

One of the most important and in-demand musicians in the electronic music world today, Jaar refers to his ruminative and emotional musical style as ‘blue-wave’,  drawing his inspiration from fellow-Chilean Ricardo Villalobos and minimal techno.

Most of Jaar’s groundbreaking compositions reside at 100 BPM or lower, which is lower than the techno/house standards of 120-130 BPM. “I’m going to keep taking the beats even slower,” he said in an interview with Resident Advisor, the dance and electronic music magazine.  “More unintentional things happen between the beats.”

Jaar released his debut album, Space Is Only Noise in January 2011 to critical acclaim. It was included in “Best New Music” from Pitchfork and  ranked #1 album of the year by Resident Advisor, Mixmag, and Crack Mag magazines. His single  “Don’t Break My Love” also received Best New Music by Pitchfork in late 2011.

The Museum of Contemporary Art (770 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL 33161) frequently presents musical programs in its galleries with cultural institutions in Miami such as the New World Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Florida Grand Opera.  This is first off-site concert for Music at MOCA and represents a new initiative to present emerging musical artists and composers in a contemporary setting.
Building upon the De Beers group of companies’ history of supporting artists and the arts,  Forevermark proudly continues in the tradition through its support of MOCA.  As a diamond brand, Forevermark, since its launch in 2011, has aligned with artists within the jewelry space, collaborating on bespoke diamond jewelry pieces.  Artists have chosen to work with Forevermark diamonds because each diamond is inscribed with a promise, a promise that it is beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced.  Less than one per cent of the world’s diamonds are eligible to become a Forevermark diamond.  Forevermark diamonds are the world’s most carefully selected diamonds and come from sources committed to the highest standards.  For more information visit www.ForevermarkDiamond.com.
