Miami Buick Dealers Announce ‘Thinking’ Car Key to be Available on 2011 LaCrosse

Miami Buick dealers Brickell Buick have been anticipating the 2011 Buick LaCrosse since 2011 model year cars started to arrive at the dealership.  After the completely new LaCrosse of 2010, Miami Buick dealers can’t wait to see what this model will bring.  Hopes are high, though, as Buick has announced a great new feature of the 2011 Buick LaCrosse- a highly sophisticated car key that knows when to lock and unlock doors.

The team of Technical Fellows at General Motors, led by team leader Dave Proefke, has developed an advanced wireless car key that automatically knows when to lock and unlock the doors.  The new key doesn’t require a button press or even a keyhole, yet can act automatically.

The key does the thinking for the driver and sends out a constant stream of data to the vehicle that includes where the key is located.  That helps the LaCrosse decide whether the doors should be locked or unlocked based on pre-programmed behavioral scenarios.

Constantly locking the keys inside the car? The 2011 Buick LaCrosse’s smart key will prevent that from happening ever again.  The system automatically senses a lockout situation and will alert drivers that the keys are still inside.  For drivers who habitually lock the door manually, the fob system will keep the doors unlocked if the keys are still inside.

The 2011 Buick LaCrosse’s new key system also increases safety from theft, an important concern for every vehicle owner.  Miami Buick drivers will enjoy knowing that their car will be safe.  Thanks to advanced key fob technology, the signal can’t be captured and used to steal the car.  The LaCrosse’s signals are encrypted and change with every button push, making stealing signals virtually impossible.

A push-button start with smart key technology can be installed, which tells the LaCrosse whether or not the key is present inside the car.  If the key is in the car, theft-deterrent encrypted coding allows the vehicle to start.  The highly sophisticated system also removes many of the mechanical systems such as wiring and cylinders that can make a vehicle easier to steal.

“With push-button start available on the CXL and standard on the CXS, LaCrosse owners can enter the vehicle, push a button to start the car and away they go,” said Proefke. “No more fumbling for keys.”

Proefke has over 20 years of experience in creating vehicle security systems for Buick and has several patents in the area.

“It does a lot of the thinking for you,” said Proefke. “It tries to determine your intended action and perform that action for you.”

The new smart key fob technology will help busy and forgetful drivers and make driving even easier and safer for all Miami Buick drivers.

The push-button start with smart key technology is available on the 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL model and standard on the CXS mode, available soon Miami Buick dealerships.
