Books & Books and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany Miami are thrilled to present a fun and very special evening with visiting German author Thomas Brussig discussing his novel: The Short End of the Sonnenallee (Picador, $16). This German bestseller (which was also was made into a movie) was translated into English by no other than Jonathan Franzen. “If I had an extra five hours in my day,” says Franzen, “I’d be translating some of Thomas Brussig’s novels into English. He’s hilarious.”

Andreas T. Siegel, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Miami, will introduce the author.

There will be a wine & cheese reception featuring a sampling of German wines especially for this ocassion.

About the Author
Thomas Brussig is the author of several novels, including Wie es leuchtet and Helden wie wir (Heroes Like Us, FSG, 1997). As a screenwriter, he worked with Edgar Reitz on his Heimat epic. Born in East Berlin, Brussig now divides his time between Berlin and Mecklenburg.
