Mardi Gras Casino Celebrated the Chinese New Year with Dragon Show

Mardi Gras Casino celebrates the month of Valentines by Painting the Party Red and ushered in the Chinese New Year last night, February 3rd,, celebrating the Year of the Rabbit with a Traditional Dragon Performance.  The Rabbit in Chinese culture symbolizes kindness, sensitivity and artistry and artistry would also be a good description of the performance last night.  The traditional dragon and lion performances accompanied by drums were expertly performed by 45 people from John Wai’s Kung Fu Academy of Plantation.  Each year, the group performs a different show which takes four months to prepare.  The troupe works with a colorful 50 foot dragon costume followed by drum players.  The first performance was performed on the Veranda, the entrance to the casino, and the second performance was performed trackside after the 7th greyhound race.  Casino and Greyhound Racing patrons were delighted with the colorful, beautiful and athletic performance.  Many of the guests had never seen a traditional Chinese New Year Dragon Performance and were thrilled to experience Chinese culture in South Florida.
