Legendary Hitmakers Three Dog Night Aim to Bring “Joy to the World” at Hard Rock Live on September 20

Legendary hitmakers Three Dog Night will bring “Joy to the World” and many other classics to Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on September 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.

Entering their fourth decade as entertainers, Three Dog Night boasts some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. From 1969 through 1974, no other group moved more records, sold more concert tickets or achieved more top 10 hits. In fact, Three Dog Night had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including three #1 singles, 11 Top 10 Hits, 18 straight Top 20s, seven million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA-certified Gold LPs.

Even today, the band’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture via radio, TV and major motion pictures. Songs like “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Joy to the World,” “Black and White,” “Shambala,”  “One” and “Celebrate” continue to reinforce Three Dog Night’s popularity. Their well-loved classics are performed by founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton on lead vocals, as well as original keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon and guitarist Michael Allsup. Paul Kingery (bass and vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums) complete the lineup.

Originally formed in 1968 by Hutton and Wells, the group took their unusual name from a story about Australian aborigines who, on cold nights in the outback, slept with their dogs for warmth. The coldest evenings are known as “three dog nights.”

Three Dog Night recorded the music of some of the best songwriters of all time (many of whom were undiscovered at the time) including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton, among others. The group toured extensively but broke-up in 1977 due to the toll of hectic non-stop concerts. Reconciling in 1981, though, the band hasn’t looked back, since. Since 1986, they have performed over 2,000 shows including two Super Bowls.

In 2009, Three Dog Night added new songs to their arsenal by releasing their first double A-sided single in nearly 25 years. “Heart of Blues” and the a-cappella ballad “Prayer of the Children” are available on iTunes, Amazon.com and other digital retailers, as well as at the band’s official website (www.threedognight.com). The Three Dog Night iPhone app was also launched to keep fans up to date on new music, tour dates and other information.
