Latinos For President Obama

The electorate in this election has changed and President Obama’s campaign has changed with it. With an emerging, more diverse America, the president’s campaign has engaged millions of Americans in new ways, enlisting an army of supporters from different backgrounds to help move the country forward. In a sign of the times, Latino voters are on the rise. More Latinos will vote this year than ever before and President Obama will win the most Latino votes of any presidential candidate in American history.

President Obama will win both the largest number of Latino votes of any presidential candidate ever, and he’s currently winning the largest share of the Latino vote of any presidential candidate in 16 years. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney is currently winning the smallest share of the Latino vote of any major party presidential candidate since Bob Dole.

LOCAL LEADERS
Hundreds of Latino campaign surrogates are sharing news and updates with one another on a private online social network and conducting an unprecedented number of local media interviews in battleground states across the country, working with dozens of desk captains at the DNC’s Hispanic Media Center.

CELEBRITIES
Shakira today encouraged millions of her Twitter followers and Facebook friends to vote for President Obama while Eva Longoria, Pitbull, Ricky Martin, Christina Saralegui, George Lopez, Mark Anthony and dozens of other Latino celebrities are conducting interviews and reaching out to engage and mobilize voters.

OPERATION RAYO LATINO
Thousands of campaign volunteers are mobilizing Latino voters on Election Day from staging locations and phone banks across the country as part of Operation Rayo Latino. Voter registration over the last four years has increased most among Latinos and Latino voters already make up a larger share of early voters today than at the same time in 2008.

ELECTION RESULTS EVENTS
Campaign organizers and Latino voters will watch election results at dozens of events across the country. DNC Hispanic Media Center spokespeople will be available for interview and Operation Rayo Latino captains will monitor activities and collect results at the DNC Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
