Sitting at the corner of 6th Street and Washington Avenue – a site recognized as the area’s historic gateway, Kimpton Angler’s Hotel South Beach stirs the soul with up-close-and-personal pop-ups and permanent installations (vs. produce) following this year’s Art Basel/Miami Art Week.

Kimpton Angler’s served as the pop-up site for the 1935 Bugatti type 59/50S, a vintage classic driven by the famous French driver Robert Benoist in the Grand Prix that same year. An undisputed work of art, the roadster – reminiscent of the hotel’s own 1930s beginnings – was on display for passersby to appreciate and enjoy in advance of the 5th Annual Auto Art Car Show which featured a curated collection of supercars, classic cars, and art cars, with special honors for the Art of Ettore Bugatti.

During the annual international art fair, Kimpton Angler’s also became home to two permanent installations designed to evoke a sense of whimsy, discovery and community for residents and visitors.

On December 8, the hotel unveiled the third in a series of outdoor murals featured throughout the property. The latest by Israeli Artist Pilpeled celebrates the hotel’s nautical past with a dramatic black and white, 11-foot-high inspired depiction of a glorious mermaid wearing an undersea tribal headdress as she rises up to the ocean surface. The mural came to life on the facade of the hotel’s Loft Building over seven days as the artist worked nightly while hotel guests and passersby witnessed the live art experience.

Inspiration and imagination enjoyed a moment of artistic synergy as Pilpeled joined Italian artist and creator of the acclaimed artistic work SOBE IS LOVE Claudio Ciaravolo. The iconic South Beach symbol was first unveiled during Art Basel 2018. Since then, the piece quickly became the destination’s single most representative symbol and a favorite spot for selfies until it disappeared earlier this year.

The landmark found its new home in front of the newly re-imagined Kimpton Angler’s Hotel. With a nod to South Beach’s rich and storied past, and an optimistic look forward to a new era of promise, prosperity, and purpose, both Kimpton Angler’s and SOBE IS LOVE represent the charm, whimsy and positivity that have helped define the destination.

With its chic sophisticated vibe, Kimpton Angler’s Hotel South Beach, located on Washington Avenue just steps from the Atlantic Ocean and world-famous Art Deco District, has quickly set itself apart as a place to escape the hustle and bustle of Miami while remaining at the center of it all. Creating an exquisite environment for guests that is both cozy and alluring, Kimpton Angler’s helps guests enjoy and discover Miami’s signature events by connecting them to each via approachable and intimate experiences.
