Javier Lopez hosts Dog Walk-A-Thon in support of Shelter Pets

High School Senior, Javier Lopez invites Miami-Dade County and Broward-County residents to sign up for his annual “Walk for Pets” event on Saturday April 23, 2011 at the Miami Lakes Park West. Participants can register on Walk Day at 7AM at Miami Lakes Park West.

The “Walk for Pets” will benefit the Humane Society of Greater Miami Second Chance Fund. Registration for the event is only $10. All participants will receive a “goodie bag” filled by the Pet Chamber of Commerce with a complimentary event T-shirt for those who raise $50 or more.

The walkathon starts at 8:00 AM, with participant and sponsor registration beginning at 7:00 AM. Sign up is at the registration tent at Miami Lakes Park West. Various viewing stations and tents will be set up inside the park for supporters to watch and sponsors to distribute water and other items.
“This is our first season hosting this walkathon and will accomplish our fundraising goals, and continue to increase participation,” says Javier Lopez, Event Administrator. “With the help of Miami-Dade County and Broward County businesses and exciting post-event entertainment, we anticipate doubling event attendance in 2012.”

Following the event, participants are invited to a complimentary Awards Ceremony with food and entertainment! Prizes will be awarded for the most pledges raised, first to cross the finish line, and most enthusiastic walker.
