Hulu Renews “Futurama” For Two More Seasons

In a move that has thrilled fans of the cult favorite animated series, Hulu has officially renewed “Futurama” for two more seasons, marking its 13th and 14th seasons overall. The streaming platform originally revived the beloved show in 2022 with a 20-episode order, and it has continued to captivate audiences ever since.

The 11th season of “Futurama” premiered on Hulu on July 24th, generating significant buzz at San Diego Comic-Con. With a certified fresh rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, the season has received critical acclaim and secured a spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 Original Series List for six weeks during its run. Fans can expect the highly anticipated 12th season to debut on Hulu in 2024.

First premiering in 1999, “Futurama” quickly garnered a devoted following and critical praise, even earning two primetime Emmys for Outstanding Animated Program. Set in the far-future, the show is renowned for its satirical commentary on present-day life. The series follows the adventures of Philip J. Fry (voiced by Billy West), a pizza delivery boy from New York City who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and wakes up in the year 3000. Alongside his hard-drinking robot friend, Bender (voiced by John DiMaggio), and his love interest, Leela (voiced by Katey Sagal), a cyclops, Fry embarks on thrilling adventures as they work at the Planet Express Delivery Company.

The full original cast, including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman, will continue to lend their voices to the beloved characters. “Futurama” was created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. Executive producers for the show include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler, and Claudia Katz.

“Futurama” holds a special place in Hulu’s Animayhem brand, which the streaming platform launched in July to cater to adult animation enthusiasts. With this renewal, Hulu solidifies its position as the premier destination for adult animated content. The platform already boasts an impressive library of fan favorites like “Family Guy,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “American Dad,” and many others. In fact, Hulu currently offers more than 20,000 episodes across both adult animation and anime genres, making it the go-to platform for fans.
