HUBLOT’S HOMAGE TO HAWAIʻI: THE BIG BANG UNICO ʻO KA MUA

Hublot’s ethos of the Art of Fusion celebrates tradition and innovation, a philosophy beautifully embodied in a new limited-edition timepiece designed exclusively for Hawaiʻi. The name ‘O Ka Mua means “the first,” as Hublot has created the first limited edition timepiece for the Hublot Honolulu Ala Moana boutique.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the Big Bang Unico ‘O Ka Mua embodies the essence of Hawaiʻi through its Polynesian design elements and the natural beauty of the islands. With the Hawaiian Islands intricately embedded on the case back of the watch, the dial consists of concentric patterns that feature designs inspired by its nature. The central sun, a key symbol in Polynesian culture, is framed by designs reminiscent of turtles, weaving patterns, waves, and shark teeth—emblems that pay homage to Polynesian artistry. Hublot’s cutting-edge materials and watchmaking expertise bring these cultural symbols to life. The honu (turtle) symbolizes longevity and peace, the shark’s teeth represent adaptability, protection, and guidance, and the waves symbolize life, change, and the unknown. This unique combination pays homage to Polynesia’s aesthetic heritage and crafts a meaningful masterpiece that resonates deeply with the spirit of Hawaiʻi.

Powered by Hublot’s iconic UNICO movement, an emblem of the Maison’s watchmaking mastery, is the driving force behind this exquisite timepiece. The in-house automatic chronograph caliber, features the column wheel and dual-clutch mechanism on the dial side, ensuring unmatched precision and reliability. With a 72-hour power reserve and silicon components in its escapement to minimize friction, the UNICO movement delivers enhanced performance. Its modular design not only support a variety of complications but also accommodates custom enhancements, making it a versatile and revolutionary element of Hublot’s distinguished watch collection. More than an engineering feat, this movement is a tribute to Hublot’s savoir-faire and seamlessly blends Polynesian motifs with Swiss watchmaking excellence.

Each limited-edition timepiece is accompanied by two interchangeable straps: Hublot’s classic black lined rubber strap and a versatile calf leather strap artfully embossed with motifs reflecting the watch’s Polynesian-inspired dial and case design, offering both style and functionality for every occasion. This Hawaiʻi exclusive marks the opening of the Hublot Honolulu Ala Moana boutique in 2021 and is limited to 25 pieces, melding fine craftsmanship with rich Hawaiian culture.”
