HOTEL REOPENING DATES

Shou Sugi Ban House in the Hamptons will reopen on June 1.COVID-19 temporarily shuttered the global hotel industry, but properties now beginning to reopen. Below is a list of accommodations that are planning to once again welcome guests, with destination-specific details about current travel restrictions.

Charleston, SC

Hamptons

Shou Sugi Ban House: June 1

Destination Update: There are currently no travel restrictions to the Hamptons, though service on the Long Island Rail Road and the Hampton Jitney – two of the more popular ways to arrive from New York City – is currently reduced.

 

Nantucket

Destination Update: Ferries run between Hyannis, MA and Nantucket; and New Bedford, MA and Nantucket. Click here to learn more. The high speed ferry between New York City and Nantucket will resume service on June 26. American Airlines will fly a new route this summer from Philadelphia to Nantucket. The direct flights will run on Saturdays from June 30 until September 8. Direct service is also offered on various airlines from east coast cities including Boston, New York, Newark, Washington D.C. and Charlotte. Blade offers non-stop, by-the-seat seaplanes from the east side of Manhattan to Nantucket. Tradewind Aviation offers similar shuttle service departing from White Plains, NY.

Destination Update: Italy will re-open to tourists from the E.U., the U.K., and Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican on June 3 with no nationwide restrictions such a quarantine upon arrival, though some regions may implement their own rules. South Africa

andBeyond’s Ngala Treehouse: February 2020

Three miles away from the nearest lodge and 52 steps in the air is andBeyond’s new Ngala Treehouse. The completely private, four-level tree house in the South African bush opened in February 2020 as a new experience on offer at andBeyond Ngala Private Game Reserve. The luxury, solar-powered home has a rooftop deck with an outdoor bed and lounge for al fresco sundowners and dinner for two, an indoor bedroom and a full bathroom with an outdoor shower. Surrounded by a thorn boma fence and just a phone call away from the dedicated treehouse attendant, travelers can feel safe in this otherwise intimidating setting.

Florida

White Elephant Palm Beach: September 23

White Elephant Palm Beach, a luxury 32-room hotel, will open on September 23. The new property represents the total renovation of the former Bradley Park Hotel, which dates back to the 1920s. Architectural firm Elkus Manfredi has created a design respectful of the unique history of the area while reflecting the mood, pulse, refinement and ethos of the modern, sophisticated traveler.
