“Children are inspirational. They are our future. I am fortunate to be in a position where I can help make a difference in our community and I am truly appreciative for the opportunity to do so,” said Bess. “The money raised from the ‘Seminole Hard Rock Hoop It Up’ basketball tournament will go directly toward upcoming fall school and mentoring programs in Broward County.”

Established in December 2010 by Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Davone Bess, The Bess Route Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged youth in the South Florida community. The non-profit organization seeks to create positive role models and mentors through initiatives like the Bess Friends program, supported by the School Board of Broward County, which inspires high school students from underserved communities and empowers them to serve as positive role models for their younger generation. Additionally, the Bess Route Foundation is devoted to developing confident young leaders by providing scholarship funds for them to attend sports camps, team building activities and related educational and constructive experiences. The Bess Route Foundation was established through The Miami Foundation (formerly the Dade Community Foundation), a federally registered 501(c)3 community foundation that has assisted South Florida individuals for more than 40 years in creating personal, permanent and powerful legacies through custom, charitable funds. Under the Miami Foundation’s guidance, fund holders have fostered the arts, awarded scholarships, championed diversity, empowered literacy programs and provided food and shelter for the hungry and homeless.
