GKIDS TO RELEASE LATEST FEATURE LONELY CASTLE IN THE MIRROR

Acclaimed Director Keiichi Hara’s new film LONELY CASTLE IN THE MIRROR to release in North America

Acclaimed director Keiichi Hara’s latest film, LONELY CASTLE IN THE MIRROR, is set to release theatrically in North America. The film is produced by Hirotaka Aragaki and Kei Kushiyama, with Miho Maruo as the scriptwriter. The studio behind the animation is A-1 Pictures, with Harumi Fuuki handling the music.

The film features an impressive voice cast that includes Ami Touma, Takumi Kitamura, Sakura Kiryu, Rihito Itagaki, Naho Yokomizo, Minami Takayama, Yuki Kaji, and Mana Ashida. The visual concept and castle designs are done by acclaimed artist Ilya Kuvshinov (The Wonderland).

LONELY CASTLE IN THE MIRROR tells the story of Kokoro, a shy outcast who discovers a portal in her bedroom mirror and is transported to an enchanting castle where she is joined by six other students. The group must work together to uncover the mysterious connection that unites them, with the threat of being eaten by a wolf hanging over their heads if they break the rules.

The film is based on the bestselling novel by Mizuki Tsujimura and is a heartfelt drama about the pains of growing up and the unlikely bonds that can bring people together. GKIDS handles North American distribution for Keiichi Hara’s films, including his previous features Summer Days with Coo (2007) and Miss Hokusai (2015). The film will be released in both its original Japanese language and an all-new English dubbed version.
