Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida Hosts The Roundup at Camp Mahachee – Grace O'Donnell honored at event

The Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida recently hosted The Roundup on November 4, 2010 at Camp Mahachee. The Council honored Grace O’Donnell, first Hispanic female Major in the Miami-Dade Police Department, for her continuous support to the organization. The event, produced by the Council’s Service Unit 18, offered hundreds of guest an evening of Western fun and entertainment to benefit the Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida and its efforts to provide thousands of girls with programs that help build girls of courage, confidence and character.

The event was emceed by Roxanne Vargas Co-Anchor of NBC6 and host of South Florida Today and co-chaired by troop leaders and mothers of Girl Scouts C. Patricia Cruz and Suzanne N. Levitt. The evening started with a VIP cocktail at 7:30 p.m., followed by a VIP reception at 8:00 p.m. were guest enjoyed live country music, a mechanical bull, a shooting range for entertainment and a silent auction with amazing items such as, lunch with Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and a tour of the Capitol in Washington, DC, private cocktails with Jon Secada, just to name a few.

With the commitment of troop leaders and Girl Scout supporters we continue to raise funds for programs that help girls in our community,” said Maria Tejera, CEO of Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida. “The event brought together an amazing group of supporters who believe in our mission.”
