On Monday, March 7, Florida Grand Opera was proud to welcome world-renowned baritone Sherrill Milnes to its Doral Center offices for a private Master Class with members of its Young Artists Studio. The event was open to Florida Grand Opera patrons of the Contributor Level and above, giving them the rare opportunity to interact with this established star.

The Master Class began with a 6 p.m. reception, sponsored by Jane and Morton Robinson, featuring wine and hors d’ouvres. Sponsored by Alicia Celorio, the class began at 7 p.m. and consisted of performances of individual arias by Young Artists, after which Milnes would provide a lively and interactive critique.

Praised for his commanding stage presence and incisive rhythmic style, Milnes became one of the most prominent Verdi baritones of the 1970s and 1980s, followed by a prolific recording career alongside opera stars including Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Leontyne Price, Dame Joan Sutherland.

Florida Grand Opera’s Master Class Series brings to South Florida some of the biggest stars of the opera world for intimate classes with the company’s Young Artists, fulfilling FGO’s commitment to developing young talent through continued study and artistic exploration.
