Environmental Music at Vizcaya!

Thursday, April 15
6:30 p.m.  Workshop
7:30 p.m.  Performance

Explore Vizcaya’s environment through music!

This unique performance of percussion works by John Cage makes use of amplified water and plant matter…things that are abundant on Vizcaya’s grounds. Members of So Percussion, a celebrated New York quartet, will select the instruments from the immediate environment, made of plant materials (or the plants themselves), and use them as indicated by Cage. The program features three John Cage pieces from 1975 through 1977 as well as an original composition, specially created for Vizcaya by So Percussion.

In addition, join us for a pre-performance workshop where you can create your own naturally inspired instruments and then join along in the concert that follows. Take advantage of the opportunity to interact with the individual members of So Percussion, the Brooklyn-based quartet called “astonishing and entrancing” by Billboard Magazine and “brilliant” by the New York Times as you exercise your creativity and socialize with friends.

Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Workshop Tickets $10;  Performance Tickets $15

Tickets available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of the program only. Seating is limited.
