Emerson Dorsch Gallery will showcase a diverse collection of contemporary art at the upcoming Untitled Art Miami Beach fair from December 4 to December 8, 2024. The gallery’s booth, located at C52, will feature works by artists Jen Clay, Elisabeth Condon, Moira Holohan, Eleen Lin, and Judd Schiffman.
This year’s fair is themed “East Meets West,” reflecting Untitled Art’s mission to support the broader art ecosystem. The artistic director and curatorial team encourage participants to explore how cultural anxieties can inspire inquiry and discovery, leading to the formation of new narratives. Emerson Dorsch’s presentation embodies this spirit with humor and bold colors.
The booth will feature a variety of mediums, including textiles, painting, and ceramic sculpture, highlighting how the featured artists incorporate cross-cultural references in their work.
Eleen Lin’s paintings offer a multi-cultural take on a classic American novel, engaging with its oceanic subculture. Judd Schiffman’s whimsical ceramic sculptures inhabit a fantastical world, drawing inspiration from Eastern meditative practices, his Jewish heritage, Afrofuturist science fiction, and New Age anthropology.
Jen Clay presents quilted, technicolor wall hangings shaped like knotted talon-like hands, drawing influence from a renowned Japanese horror manga artist to reflect on contemporary mental health issues. Elisabeth Condon’s vivid canvases bring pre-Columbian relics to life through splashes of magenta, while Moira Holohan’s intricate weavings bridge mid-century American abstraction with themes of legacy and mortality, using imagery reminiscent of video keying and ghostly paint stains.
Untitled Art Miami Beach takes place at the iconic intersection of Ocean Drive and 12th Street. Visitors are invited to explore Emerson Dorsch’s engaging booth and experience how these innovative artists navigate and merge cultural dialogues through their work.
