Marking many firsts, the inaugural Ceviche Throwdown brings together a first-time partnership with the wine enthusiasts of Miami International Wine Fair (MIWF), the discerning palates of South Florida Foodies and SUGARCANE raw bar grill for an event benefitting Friends of the Fisherman on October 17th (3 to 6 p.m.).
I’m happy that we can support the Louisiana fisherman, as it’s been a tough year for their industry especially in this region,” said Balloo, executive chef, SUGARCANE raw bar grill. “We hope to build greater awareness of their cause by calling upon Miami’s greatest talent to host a Throwdown that will be the first of many!”
Come hungry, as guests will have a chance to sample 11 different ceviche offerings thoughtfully prepared by some of Miami’s best including, Timon Balloo of SUGARCANE raw bar grill; Douglas Rodriguez of Ocean; Jonathan Eismann of Fin; Kris Wessel of Red Light; Andrea Randazoo of The Water Club; Phillip Bryant of Norman’s 180; Juan Chipoco of CVI.CHE 105; Tim Andriola of Timo; Clay Conley of Büccan, Bernard Matz of Books & Books Cafe and Dena Marino.
Along with a 5 person judging panel, comprised of industry leaders in food, beverage, design and all around culinary knowledge, guests will have a chance to pick their best-in-show. Each ceviche will be served with a unique wine pairing, a snapshot of white, sweet and bubbly varietals that were featured at the 9th annual edition of the Fair. Scoring categories including taste, presentation, ability to pair with wine and uniqueness.
Advance tickets are available for purchase online at www.miamiwinefair.com and at the MIWF fair grounds (Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall C / October 15th & 16th) for $40. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the door for $50 per person. All proceeds from that day will be donated to Friends of the Fisherman, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to help Louisiana’s fishermen in their greatest time of need. This event will also serve as the official closing party for MIWF.
