Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, BALÉ FOLCLÓRICO DA BAHIA, one of the world’s finest folkloric companies, will make its triumphant return to the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of its 2013-2014 Live at Knight Series. In a spectacular display of color, movement, and live music, this 38-member Brazilian troupe of dancers, musicians, and singers will perform a thrilling program of Bahian folkloric dances of African origin including slave dances, capoeira, samba, and Carnival celebrations.
As the foremost professional folkloric dance company in Brazil, BALÉ FOLCLÓRICO DA BAHIA has performed at the most important theaters in the United States and Canada including City Center New York, the Shubert Theater in Boston, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Chicago Theater, Zellerbach Hall at UC Berkeley, and Massey Hall in Toronto. Internationally, the company has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Teatro da Trinidade in Lisbon, the Savoy Teateeri in Helsinki, the Parteatern in Stockholm and Teatret Albertslund in Copenhagen, as well as a seven-country tour of South America.
This performance is part of the 2013-2014 Live at Knight Series.
