The taste of Italy is coming to Miami for three days and the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce invites you to join in the fun and learn how to eat AUTHENTICALLY EATalian!

The true Mediterranean diet has long been lauded as one of the healthiest diets around, yet people continue to associate Italian-sounding dishes (such as fettuccini Alfredo) with Italian cuisine, when true Mediterranean cuisine is much lighter and heart-healthy than these inauthentic creations.

AUTHENTICALLY EATalian gives you the chance to learn about the authentic Mediterranean diet and start living a healthier lifestyle. Mr. Pietro Celi, Director General for policies of Internationalization and Trade Promotion, from the Italian Ministry of Economic Development will also be in Miami and available for interviews, to share his wealth of knowledge of all things Italian, commerce and business.

Get to know the true cuisine of “The Beautiful Country” during the sure-to-be-delicious AUTHENTICALLY EATalian Restaurant Weekend, featuring twelve local restaurants offering three-course prix fixe menus at only $39 per person (plus tax and gratuity).

Choose among some of Miami’s most talked about restaurants, including:

Caffe’ Milano (Miami Beach)
Cibo Wine Bar (Coral Gables)
deiFrescobaldi (Miami Beach)
Quattro (Miami Beach) – Friday and Sunday Only
Pelican (Miami Beach)
Pepe Nero (Miami Beach)
Piccola Cucina (Miami Beach)
Salumeria 104 (Midtown)
Serafina (Miami Beach)
Soya & Pomodoro (Downtown) – Friday and Saturday Only

Toscana Divino (Brickell)

Miami’s top chefs will be focused on using the freshest and most natural ingredients in their authentic Mediterranean recipes, to ensure that your delicious yet healthy meal is AUTHENTICALLY EATalian.

As part of its health-centric initiative, the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce is participating in the Miami Corporate Run, taking place in Downtown Miami on April 25. Not only will AUTHENTICALLY EATalian representatives be participating in the run, but there will also be an AUTHENTICALLY EATalian booth on hand, where you can learn more about the true Mediterranean diet and authentic Italian products.

The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce knows that it’s never too soon to start eating healthy, so it has also partnered up with Miami-Dade County schools, to get children and their parents to make healthier food choices. This collaborative initiative takes place between April and October and features “interactive lessons on the Mediterranean diet” during which chefs and nutritionists will demonstrate how to prepare authentic and healthy Italian dishes that the entire family will enjoy.

To cap off what is sure to be a successful, conscious-raising initiative, a conference will be held at the Miami Culinary Institute in November. The conference will offer school cafeteria chefs and MCI students the opportunity to attend a full day of seminars and cooking demonstrations, as well as experience testimonials from recognized experts in the field of nutrition. Celebrity chefs will be on hand during the interactive lessons at Miami-area schools as well as the November conference.
