Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida begins its season with the ballet Harlequinade and the premiere of a piece celebrating painter Gustav Klimt’s 150th anniversary

Arts Ballet Theatre of FloridaThe invitation is for October 1 & 2 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts followed by a performance on October 9 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.

Each season Vladimir Issaev takes his company to an exciting dancing journey while his audience is anxiously waiting for a new breathtaking experience to begin.  Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida’s 2011-2012 Season will bring for its first program the wonderful classical ballet Harlequinade and a new neo-classical piece celebrating the 150th anniversary of painter Gustav Klimt.

Vladimir Issaev is always looking to integrate Visual Arts to the Performing Arts and A Celebration to Gustav Klimt is just simply that: An exhibition of a creative neo-classical ballet piece where the dancers of the company demonstrate their bravura while they celebrate the colors and the genius of Gustav Klimt.  Costumes designed in conjunction with acclaimed visual artist Elena Bond and Issaev himself will bring a new perspective on stage to Klimt’s wonderful works.

For the second part of the program Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is bringing back Harlequinade, a ballet where Issaev’s creativity and ingenuity combined with his reverence for the classics, allows his fantastic dancers to sparkle. Originally made into a ballet in 1900, by Marius Petipa, with music by Riccardo Drigo, Harlequinade follows Harlequin and his lover, Columbina, as they outwit Columbina’s father, Cassander who wishes her daughter to marry a rich suitor. Columbina’s friend, Pierretta steals the key away from Pierrot unlocking her house and letting Harlequin in, allowing the two lovers to reunite and more dancing to ensue.

Twelve professional dancers originally from Japan, China, Australia, Cuba, Peru, Venezuela, and the USA complete the main corps of the company; including medalists at the Korea International Ballet Competition Jun Tanabe and Kaori Fukui, who meet every day at Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida’s studios to be part of this breathtaking season.

The invitation is for October 1 & 2 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts followed by a performance on October 9 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
