On the Radar: November 1–7
Halloween is done. The first week of November opens with iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina, the Dolphins hosting New England, Miami Film Festival GEMS in full swing, the Breeders' Cup at Gulfstream, a Syrian long-table dinner series at Gardenia House, three restaurant months running at once, and the Uchibā preview pop-up. A full seven days.
Part of our ongoing curation of what it means to live, love, and play in the Magic City.
October is done. The costumes are down, the city exhales, and November arrives with a calendar that does not wait. Film, food, football, free outdoor art, a Latin music arena show, thoroughbred racing, and a long-table Syrian feast all land in the first seven days. This is what we are watching.
One of the biggest Latin music nights of the year in a city that takes Latin music seriously. Kaseya Center, tonight. If you have been sleeping on this one, check the lineup and make a decision. Full preview here.
The Día de los Muertos programming continues on Calle Ocho in Little Havana — altars, music, and the kind of street energy that only happens in this neighborhood. Also: Journey to Día de Muertos with Calpulli Mexican Dance Company at the Arsht Center at 3 PM, and the Day of the Dead Pool Party at The Goodtime Hotel Sunday evening.
AFC East. Playoff positioning. Hard Rock Stadium at 4:25 PM. The tailgate scene has been strong this season — get there early. This is the kind of November afternoon that reminds you why you live here. The Sunday NFL Experience at La Bibliothèque is also running if you want to watch in a room.
New World Center, 4:30 PM Sunday. A live orchestral performance built for young audiences — costumes encouraged. The right way to close out Halloween weekend with kids in tow.
The French Market at South Pointe Park runs Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM — local vendors, fresh produce, free to walk. The Stories We Carry, a new public art installation on Lincoln Road, debuts this weekend and runs through November 30. Suitcases, stories, and street-level poetry. Worth the walk. No ticket needed for either.

GEMS is spread across Silverspot, Coral Gables Art Cinema, The Bill Cosford Cinema, and MDC's Koubek Center through the full first week of November. The standouts: The Love Witch 35mm 10th Anniversary at Coral Gables Art Cinema on Saturday; All of a Sudden (Soudain) at Silverspot Sunday at 5 PM; Minotaur at Coral Gables Art Cinema Sunday at 5:30 PM; The Gallerist at The Bill Cosford Cinema Sunday at 6 PM; a Mike Leigh retrospective with Hard Earned on Monday the 2nd; and a Variety Creative Vanguard conversation with John Turturro on Tuesday the 3rd. Forty guests. One long table. A full Syrian feast for $125++. Gardenia House on Miami Beach debuted this series on October 25 — sold out, strong reviews. Three dates remain: November 1, 8, and 15. Tonight's date is tonight. Book the 8th or the 15th now. This is the kind of dinner that does not repeat itself.

Uchibā — the new Uchi bar concept — is running preview happy hours at both Uchi Miami and Uchiko Miami Beach through November 15. This is the soft-open window before the full Brickell location opens. The menu is tight, the pricing reflects that it is still a preview, and the rooms are good. Go now, before the full launch changes the conversation.
The richest two days in thoroughbred racing, and Gulfstream Park is hosting this year. The Flamingo Room will be packed. The trackside experience is genuinely good — Gulfstream has put real effort into the food and beverage program. Tickets are required and the premium areas sell out. If you are going, book now. The Bet & Brunch Wagering Tournament runs alongside it.
Miami Spice extended through October 31 — the last day is today. Coral Gables Restaurant Month is running all month on Miracle Mile and Giralda Plaza. Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Month covers Las Olas and beyond. If there is a room you have been meaning to try, this is the window — prix fixe pricing at places that do not normally do prix fixe. Use it.
Insider Tools — two tools built for this exact decision: the Anti-Aero Dining Planner (find the right room for the weather and your comfort level) and the Acoustic Decibel Matcher (know whether a room is loud or quiet before you book).
