Knaus Berry Farm opens for its 70th season on Tuesday, October 13 — two months earlier than last year. What started as a small family operation in 1956 has become one of South Florida's most enduring food traditions, and this season brings a few meaningful updates alongside the same cinnamon rolls that have kept people lining up for seven decades.
Seventy years of cinnamon rolls, the same recipes, the same line — and this year, U-Pick strawberries are back.
To move the line faster, the farm has added a fourth register and cashier, capped purchases at four dozen cinnamon rolls per guest, and increased menu signage with QR codes so guests can order before they reach the counter. Parking has nearly doubled, and the season has been extended to 30 weeks.
U-Pick strawberries return this season for the first time at the new Redland location. Working with Accursio Farms, Knaus has planted 25,000 strawberry plants on adjacent land. The strawberries are expected to be ready for picking by Christmas, weather permitting, and will be available Thursday through Sunday. An official launch date will be announced in early December on the farm's social channels.
Also new this season: advance online ordering launches in November. Guests can pre-order four to twelve dozen cinnamon rolls online for a separate pickup entrance behind the farm — no waiting in the main line. Pickup slots run Wednesday through Sunday, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., released one month in advance. For larger orders (corporate events, fundraising), custom order requests are available through the website. Advance ordering will not be available during select holiday weeks.
Returning to the menu this season: mango shakes and slushies made with local mango picked over the summer, homemade guava and hot pepper guava jellies, and U-Pick strawberries. Thomas Blocher, who oversaw the bakery program for 40 years, remains involved as a kitchen consultant to keep the rolls exactly as generations of customers have known them.
The PGM Edit
