Madrid–Miami: Celebrando la Hispanidad — Free Cultural Exchange at Freedom Tower, October 4

On Sunday, October 4, the Freedom Tower hosts Madrid–Miami: Celebrando la Hispanidad — a free, family-friendly celebration of Hispanic culture that connects two cities live across the Atlantic. The event features a live international broadcast of La Cabalgata de la Hispanidad 2026, bringing Madrid's festivities to audiences at Freedom Tower while sharing Miami's celebration live with viewers in Madrid. The program begins at 11 a.m.

The day's lineup spans music, dance, theater, fashion, and interactive experiences. An orchestra performance is presented jointly by New World School of the Arts and Teatro Real de España. Flamenco Fusion brings the passion and rhythm of traditional flamenco music to the plaza. A family-friendly Don Quixote theater performance draws from the beloved Spanish classic, and Las Gitanillas present a Faena Show bringing the spirit of Spain to life through music and dance. The celebration closes with Hora Loca — an energetic salsa performance and festive finale.

Flavors of Spain will be available throughout the day alongside live music. Hands-on activities for all ages include fan decorating, face painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, and kids' games.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may park for free in MDC's Parking Lot 1, located on the south side of Freedom Tower between NE Fifth and NE Sixth streets. Freedom Tower is located at 600 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. RSVP at mdc.edu.

Love Miami

The Freedom Tower has always been a building that carries more than one story at once — a Cuban refugee processing center, a symbol of exile and arrival, now a museum. Hosting a live cultural bridge between Madrid and Miami on Día de la Hispanidad is exactly the kind of programming that honors what the building represents. The lineup here is genuinely strong: New World School of the Arts and Teatro Real de España on the same bill, Las Gitanillas bringing the Faena spirit, and a salsa finale to close it out. This is a free Sunday well spent.
