ART MIAMI ALIGNS WITH LUXE MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MIAMI TO OFFER THE ULTIMATE ART WEEK EXPERIENCE

Art Miami (www.art-miami.com), Miami’s longest running contemporary art fair, announces a partnership with Mandarin Oriental, Miami, the luxury city resort situated on Brickell Key. The alliance will officially kick off with the opening of a specially curated Asian art exhibition at the hotel, on November 29, prior to the opening of the fair (December 1 – December 5, 2010).

One of the most luxurious five-?star hotels in Miami, Mandarin Oriental, Miami, traditionally hosts important international collectors, art world professionals and journalists during Art Week. As part of the new joint venture, Art Miami and Mandarin Oriental, Miami will host a special exhibition of Asian art in the main lobby of the hotel for the duration of Art Week. Brian A. Dursum, esteemed curator and director of The Lowe Museum, will curate the show, with select works from Art Miami exhibitors. An expert in Chinese art, Dursum is a board member of the Florida Association of Museums (FAM), and past President of the Florida Art Museum Directors Association (FAMDA).

“We are thrilled to announce this exciting partnership. Both Art Miami and Mandarin Oriental, Miami are leaders of quality and sophistication in their fields. It is a natural association, and a strong alliance,” said Nick Korniloff, Director of Art Miami.

“We are excited to partner with Art Miami 2010 as we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary,” said Jorge Gonzalez, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Miami. “Hosting the Asian art exhibition in our lobby during Art Week, with works from Art Miami exhibitors, is the perfect way to support the city’s contemporary art scene and Art Miami’s role in the community,” he continued.

“The exhibition will showcase select works from the superb collection of Asian artists on show at Art Miami,” said Brian Dursum, curator of the special Art Miami exhibition. “I am looking forward to working with the beautiful space of Mandarin Oriental, Miami, to present the works.”

Always seeking to enhance the experience of its attendees, Art Miami will provide hotel guests with a shuttle bus service to the fair, and an onsite private VIP lounge presented by Mandarin Oriental, Miami.

The design of the lounge will incorporate artistic, contemporary and subtle Oriental influences consistent with the hotel’s Asian service and luxurious amenities.
