Art at EAST: Urban Remix

URBAN REMIX

EAST is proud to present “Art at EAST: Urban Remix”, our new multi-city art programme to reimagine urban living and celebrate the vibrant communities that EAST calls home, starting with Miami.

Come explore acclaimed artist Carlos Betancourt’s latest installation, On the Edge: The Hopeful Forest, 2019 a series of totems made from repurposed, abandoned objects found in the surrounding community.

Curated by Ximena Caminos, the artwork draws influence from the high-rises and art of the local Brickell community to represent its diverse culture and what it means to live in this beloved city. The name ‘On the Edge’ further speaks to Miami’s location on the eastern edge, and references the broader idea of being on the edge – a moment of anticipation for the unknown.

The installation also features an interactive coloring book created by Carlos Betancourt – come get creative with us and share your interpretation of the art!

On view starting this Art Basel Week at EAST, Miami: from December 2nd, 2019 to January 14th, 2020.
