Music at MOCA Presents Florida Grand Opera Young Artists Friday March 23 7:30 pm

The Florida Grand Opera is coming to North Miami on Friday, March 23 when  Museum of Contemporary Art’s Music at MOCA series welcomes FGO Young Artists for a special performance.    The rising young opera stars will showcase their talents by singing a selection of arias, duets, and broadway ballads, including the classic O mio babbino caro by Puccini, Soliloquy from Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and excerpts from Verdi’s Rigoletto and Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette.  In addition to performing, the singers will discuss the musicality of each piece and its significance in the history of opera.  

This intimate recital is an opportunity to enjoy outstanding vocal performance among the dramatic artwork of Rita Ackerman, the subject of  MOCA’s newest exhibition. MOCA galleries will be open until 9 pm for viewing Ackermann’s diverse body of paintings, drawings and collages which range from expressionism to abstraction.

 

The performance will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami. Tickets are $5 (free for MOCA members, North Miami residents and City employees and children under 12.). Seating is limited.  Free parking is available.

MOCA galleries will be open until 9 pm.  On view is the museum’s new exhibition of paintings, drawings and collages by  Rita Ackermann,  whose diverse body of work ranges from expressionism to abstraction.
