As part of a nationwide celebration of their 50th anniversary, Pampers Diapers is rolling out a series of “First Father’s Day Cook Outs” for new and expecting fathers across the country. In Miami, 25 leading dads who are making a difference in the community were selected for this special Father’s Day event. A luau-themed celebration took place in their honor on Wednesday, June 16th, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort.
Celebrated fathers included Mario Manuel Cristobal, head coach of the Florida International University football team; Michael Grieco, president of BNI Premier; Russ Koonin, founder of Ferraro Law Firm and co-founder of Playgroup Connect, a free online service that links like-minded moms; Dan Sweeney, editor of City Link magazine; Matt Pack, celebrity fitness trainer and founder of Primal Fit Miami; David Bernard, co-founder and president of Miami International Wine Fair and founding partner and president of Vinamericas, Inc.; and Eduardo Hapke, founder and publisher of Hispanic Target, Target Style and Target Autos and Tourism.
Dads were encouraged to roll up their cuffs and sink their toes into the sand at this family-friendly, sunset luau on the beach. Upon arrival, families were greeted by a hula dancer and traditional flower leis before being ushered to the beach where a shoe-swap for sand-friendly flip-flops was provided. Oversized Mai Tai cups were filled with fruit punch for a family photo opportunity in front of the Pampers’ step-and-repeat on a sea grass carpet.
During the event, dads and their infants enjoyed “tummy time touchdown space” by Jumping Jelly Beans, a dress-up photo booth, sand arts and crafts station, a live drumming circle and “MAN-icures” courtesy of Seven Seas Aveda Spa and Salon.
The event was set beachside where a sunset created the perfect ambiance for a Polynesian-inspired dinner. Guests enjoyed Blackened Mahi-Mahi, Huli-Huli Chicken and Grilled Portobello Mushroom Burgers with mango salsa; Hawaiian sea-salted pomme frites; tropical fruit salad and rum cake shooters, in addition a Vita Coco fruit punch and Botran Rum “rum-aki” cocktails were served.
