A&E Network’s Police Drama “The Glades” at Homestead-Miami Speedway Airs at 10 p.m.

Homestead-Miami SpeedwayHomestead-Miami Speedway and the city of Homestead hosted Arts & Entertainment Television Network for filming of its police-drama “The Glades” and the episode will air at 10 p.m. EST this Sunday.

In April, a cast and crew of  more than 250 turned Homestead-Miami Speedway into an outdoor TV studio for a taping of “The Glades” second season.  Homestead-Miami Speedway played itself as the host of NASCAR’s series-crowning finales during Ford Championship Weekend featuring reigning Ford 400 race winner Carl Edwards, two-time Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart, Ft. Lauderdale resident Brian Vickers and one of NASCAR’s young stars Joey Logano. The garage area and the 1.5 mile Homestead-Miami Speedway oval — scene of NASCAR’s 2011 Championship Weekend (Nov. 18-20) — functioned as a movie set for Sunday’s “Moonlighting” episode.


A&E Network summarizes its TV hit this way:


“THE GLADES” is a one-hour drama featuring actor Matt Passmore who plays “Jim Longworth,” a sly Chicago cop who relocates to a slower-paced small town in Florida where the sun shines, the golf is plentiful, and the crime less ubiquitous…so he thinks.  In this episode, when Longworth investigates a NASCAR-related murder, he goes head to head with NASCAR’s top drivers, and takes a few laps around the track. “Moonlighting” will explore the murder investigation of Cole Hunter, the fictitious mechanic for NASCAR driver Trey Lancer. In his search for the truth, Jim Longworth – played by Matt Passmore – centers much of his attention inside the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, where he meets NASCAR stars Edwards, Logano, Stewart and Vickers.


“Filming the A&E Network film ‘The Glades’ at the Speedway is beneficial to the image and economy of Homestead,” said Homestead Mayor Steven C. Bateman. “I am happy that our city’s assets and resources are being shown and recognized by the entertainment industry.”


“NASCAR drivers are tremendously talented behind the wheel of a race car and are brand ambassadors for their respective sponsors so this shouldn’t be too much of a stretch for them,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “To see Homestead-Miami Speedway represented on national TV before NASCAR’s Championship Weekend this November 18-20 is going to be pretty cool. I’m really looking forward to seeing the Speedway’s home turf transformed through the magic of television.”
