FIA Formula 2 heads to the Miami International Autodrome for the second round of the 2026 season, marking the series’ North American debut during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. Red Bull Junior driver Nikola Tsolov, known as the Bulgarian Lion, aims to build on his strong start after winning the opening feature race in Australia back in March.
Tsolov currently leads the championship standings with 25 points, having made a commanding debut after a solid performance in Australia. Although he finished 17th in the Sprint Race, his victory in the Feature Race showcased his potential as a top contender this season. Coming into Miami, he’s eager to continue his momentum on the challenging street circuit surrounding the Hard Rock Stadium.
The Miami Autodrome is a fast, unforgiving 5.42-kilometer street circuit with 19 corners, limited run-off zones, and tight walls—making precision essential. Tsolov emphasizes its technical challenge, describing it as a unique and exciting test for all drivers.
He said, “It’s very exciting to race in the U.S. for the first time, especially in Miami. The track is fast and technical, and with all drivers new to this layout, it’s an opportunity to make a difference. I’m motivated to keep my momentum going after Melbourne.”
Action kicks off on Saturday, May 2, with the F2 Sprint Race at 10 a.m. EDT, followed by the Feature Race on Sunday, May 3, at 12:30 p.m. EDT. Fans can follow the series as Tsolov aims to extend his championship lead in what’s set to be an intense race on Miami’s streets.
