WHAT: Reinventing the sounds of the ’80s and ’90s for the 21st century, Juno Award-winning singer and songwriter Kiesza touches upon house music, EDM, R&B, and synth pop. Her hit “Hideaway” combined the soulful vocals and propulsive beat of vintage house with the streamlined production of her own era. She soon proved herself a gifted collaborator, featuring on tracks by Skrillex,Diplo and Duran Duran and writing songs with others. After recovering from a serious car crash, Kiesza returned as a more determined and independent artist with the joyous, stylish album Crave. On the Dancing and Crying EPs that followed she united her folky origins with her commitment to emotive, sensuous dance music.
