In a groundbreaking partnership, Taiwan-based STARLUX Airlines has teamed with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama to transform two Airbus A350-1000 planes into flying masterpieces—marking the first time his iconic metallic aesthetic graces full-scale commercial aircraft.
Unveiled today at Tokyo’s Omotesando Hills, the AIRSORAYAMA project features liquid-metal liveries in silver and gold, crafted after a three-year design process that overcame technical challenges to meet safety and weight standards. The two aircraft, named STARLUX AIRSORAYAMA Silver and Gold, will debut in service in Q3 2026, turning the sky into an art gallery in motion.

Sorayama’s signature robot and metallic motifs, combined with custom in-flight amenities and merchandise, elevate this collaboration beyond aviation into a new realm of art and innovation. Chairman K.W. Chang describes it as a bold fusion of futurism and emotion—an unprecedented journey across the horizon.
This visionary project redefines the boundaries of design, making each flight a floating gallery and a testament to artistry meets aerospace excellence.
