Miami-Dade County has greenlit a $600.6 million project to construct Concourse K at MIA, marking a key milestone in the airport’s $9 billion Future-Ready Modernization plan. The new facility will add six gates, a ground support equipment maintenance area, enhanced baggage systems, and critical airfield upgrades—designed to support future growth to 77 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo by 2040.
Scheduled to begin following a summer groundbreaking, Concourse K aims to increase capacity, create thousands of jobs, and reinforce Miami’s status as a premier global gateway. Expected to complete by spring 2029, the project reflects the airport’s commitment to innovation, sustainability (envisioned LEED Silver), and community development.
