The Home Depot and Foundation Donates $1 Million for Hurricane Melissa Relief in Jamaica and Caribbean

In response to Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest storms in the Caribbean’s history, The Home Depot and The Home Depot Foundation are committing $1 million in product donations, nonprofit grants, and support to aid Jamaica and surrounding communities.

Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, caused severe flooding, structural damage, and power outages in Jamaica, with over 25,000 residents in emergency shelters. Full recovery could take years.

The Foundation is providing grants to World Central Kitchen for emergency meals, Convoy of Hope and Operation Blessing for essential supplies, and will donate disaster relief products such as generators, water, tools, and lighting.

Stores in Miami and New York Metro are serving as hubs for distribution, ensuring quick access to critical supplies. The company’s pre-storm stockpiling and logistics position it strongly to support immediate relief and long-term rebuilding efforts.

“Our hearts are with the Caribbean communities recovering from this storm,” said Erin Izen, Foundation Executive Director. “We are committed to helping communities rebuild and recover, today and in the future.”
