The Vasari Project at 25: A Legacy of Art Collections and Collecting in Miami. This special anniversary exhibition highlights Miami-Dade County’s visual arts history dating back to 1945, featuring donated materials, such as correspondence, press clippings, photographs, exhibition catalogs and more, from artists, galleries and institutions, among others, that reflect Miami’s evolving cultural landscape.
Founded in 2000 by then Art Librarian Margarita Cano, the late Miami Herald art critic and historian Helen L. Kohen and former Art Librarian and Art Services Manager Barbara N. Young, The Vasari Project is a living archive documenting, collecting and preserving Miami’s creative cultural and artistic history. Today, this Library collection continues to grow, chronicling Miami-Dade’s continued transformation into a major hemispheric art center.
