To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010, local South Florida businesses are giving back. Continuing their eco-conscious commitment, Area 31 and exhale at EPIC are launching Earth Day promotions.

Executive Chef John Critchley has created a special cocktail in honor of Earth Day. The TRU Earth Martini will be available at Area 31 from Monday, April 19 to Sunday, April 25 for only $8. Sales of the TRU Earth Martini will aid in planting trees in the rain forests throughout Central America as TRU Vodka pledges to plant one tree for every bottle of TRU Vodka sold. Each tree removes 790 kgs of CO2 from the atmosphere over an average 50-year lifetime.

2 oz TRU Organic Lemon Vodka
½ oz Hendricks Gin
1 oz Ginger infused simple syrup
3 limes
Muddled and shaken, strained and poured up into a martini glass
Rim – Candied citrus, sugar, salt and sumac
Executive Chef John Critchley will also host an “Art of Sustainability” wine hour event on Friday, April 23 from 5 – 7 pm for EPIC hotel guests. Critchley will show guests how to prepare the TRU Earth Martini and share tips on sustainable eating habits, including where to buy sustainable and organic fish and produce. Admission is free for hotel guests and will be treated to complimentary bites and cocktails. EPIC’s “Art of Sustainability” event helps celebrate the hotel’s recently awarded, Green Seal certification, a third-party validation part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ efforts to become the first U.S. lifestyle boutique hotel company to attain 100 percent Green Seal certification at the Silver level across its 50 hotels in 22 major metropolitan cities.
