In a joint announcement today, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line unveiled plans to enhance the highly-rated destination of Half Moon Cay, rebranding it as RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. Known for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, the Bahamas paradise will now offer an upgraded experience for guests.
The partnership aims to expand the beachfront area, adding new lunch venues, an array of bars, and features designed to enhance the island’s natural beauty. A newly constructed pier on the north side will allow for the arrival of Carnival’s Excel class ships, marking a significant milestone for the destination.
Visitors will be welcomed at distinct plazas on the island’s south and north sides, complete with over a mile of pristine white-sand beach. The existing facilities on the south side will receive a Bahamian-inspired refresh, including a new beach club and improved dining options. The north side will boast additional lunch venues and themed bars, complemented by a new tram service for easy navigation. Enhanced lounging areas, cabanas, and a shore excursion pier will connect guests to recreational activities while preserving the island’s authentic charm.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, noted that the south side will retain its secluded allure while introducing updates to food and beverage offerings that celebrate the island’s beauty. Meanwhile, Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the commitment to preserving the destination’s appeal while accommodating more visitors eager to enjoy its idyllic environment.
The renovations are expected to begin in summer 2026, with completion anticipated by the end of the year. Further details about the enhancements will be revealed in the coming months.
