Lexus Unveils Liminal Cycles Installation and Limited-Edition Capsule Collection at ICA Miami

LEXUS UNVEILS “LIMINAL CYCLES” INSTALLATION DESIGNED IN COLLABORATION WITH CRAFTING PLASTICS

On view through December 15

Lexus has launched “Liminal Cycles,” a groundbreaking multisensory installation developed in partnership with Bratislava-based Crafting Plastics, at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Miami. This innovative installation, inspired by the Lexus LF-ZC Battery Electric Vehicle concept, emphasizes material innovation, responsive technology, and personalization—hallmarks of Lexus’ luxury design philosophy.

Accompanying this immersive experience is a limited-edition capsule collection featuring 26 design objects crafted by a diverse group of renowned designers, including Germane Barnes, Michael Bennett (Studio Kër), Suchi Reddy, and Tara Sakhi (T SAKHI). Each piece reflects Lexus’ commitment to sustainability, performance, and technological advancement.

The centerpiece of Liminal Cycles is a dynamic sculpture constructed from Nuatan®, a biodegradable bioplastic developed by Crafting Plastics. Designed to react to environmental stimuli, the sculpture pulsates in color and motion, mimicking the rhythms of nature. Additional installations engage the senses through sound and scent, further inviting interaction from visitors.

On view through December 15, Liminal Cycles marks Lexus’ continued collaboration with ICA Miami during Miami Art & Design Week, celebrating creativity and innovative design. The project aligns with Crafting Plastics’ mission to promote sustainable biobased materials within the creative industries.

“This installation allows us to explore how biomaterials can redefine luxury design with minimal compromise,” said Vlasta Kubušová, co-founder of Crafting Plastics. “Together with Lexus, we aim to inspire the future of responsible design.”

The capsule collection includes a custom fragrance developed in collaboration with clean fragrance brand dilo, further enhancing the sensory experience of both the installation and the collection. Items from the Lexus in Design capsule will be available for purchase at ICA Miami and online, with proceeds supporting sustainability initiatives at the museum.

In addition to the installation and collection, Lexus will host “Art and Innovation Talks” on December 4, featuring discussions on sustainability in luxury design. With its bold approach to innovation and dedication to creating exceptional luxury experiences, Lexus continues to lead the conversation in the intersection of art, design, and automotive excellence.
