What to See in Miami During the Fair: Unmissable Art Exhibitions

MIAMI BEACH
Dive into Miami’s vibrant art scene as the Bass Museum of Art presents “Social Assembly: Welcome to the Museum.” This innovative exhibition redefines visitor engagement and features the stunning kaleidoscopic installation XI by assume vivid astro focus (AVAF), a gift from the de la Cruz Collection. Adding to the excitement, Rachel Feinstein showcases her debut solo exhibition in Miami, titled “The Miami Years.” Meanwhile, at The Wolfsonian-FIU, the revamped exhibition “The Big World: Alternative Landscapes of the Modern Era” invites visitors to rethink landscape art through its collection, which includes the evocative stained-glass window by Harry Clarke.

At the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, Andrea Chung’s “Between Too Late and Too Early” explores colonial relations through 80 transformative artworks, while interaction designer Smita Sen debuts “Embodied” and Nicole Salcedo presents “Earth Gate” in the plaza.

WYNWOOD ART DISTRICT
Home to the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, this year’s exhibition celebrates iconic works from Roy Lichtenstein, Louise Nevelson, and Isamu Noguchi, alongside specialized artist showcases and a collaboration featuring Spanish photography. The Bakehouse Art Complex shines a spotlight on Patricia Monclús’ installation “Pico Radial,” transforming the gallery into an interactive cockfighting venue.

MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT
Dacra introduces the annual Craig Robins Collection with highlights from German artists Kai Althoff and Jana Euler, including new works by Euler. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Institute of Contemporary Art showcases the dynamic multimedia creations of Japanese pop artist Keiichi Tanaami, alongside debuts from New York-based Lucy Bull and Chinese artist Ding Shilun.

LITTLE RIVER
At Locust Projects, Alexandre Arrechea’s installation “Bare Tool” uses the metaphor of skipping stones to explore themes of cause and reaction through immersive video and spatial activations.

ALLAPATTAH
El Espacio 23 presents “Mirror of the Mind: Figuration in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection,” a six-part multimedia exhibition featuring 120 artists examining the emotional and physical connections of the human body. Marquez Art Projects unveils newly commissioned works from U.K.-based, Slovenia-born artist Katarina Caserman, alongside the latest acquisitions of the Marquez Family Collection. The Rubell Museum highlights the work of Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa and British artist Vanessa Raw, the current artist-in-residence.

DOWNTOWN MIAMI
The Pérez Art Museum Miami curates “Xican-a.o.x. Body,” a sweeping survey of six decades of Xicanx artists, exploring the body as a site of expression. Other featured exhibitions include Calida Rawles’ “Away with the Tides” and José Parlá’s “Homecoming.”

SOUTH MIAMI
The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum-FIU showcases “Field of Dreams” by South African artist Billie Zangewa, who presents a poignant reflection on the human experience through her hand-stitched fabrics and mirror artworks.

NORTH MIAMI
NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale presents a dialogue between Rose B. Simpson’s multimedia pottery-inspired works and vanessa german’s immersive sculptures. Also featured are Jacqueline de Jong’s “Vicious Circles,” Cici McMonigle’s “Creatures for the Divine,” and a collection of 1,800 photographs by Joel Meyerowitz. Additionally, the Girls’ Club Collection presents “No Looking Back,” highlighting photo-based works of women artists.

Finally, the Norton Museum of Art invites audiences to “Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing,” featuring over 100 multimedia pieces that delve into the cultural and sociopolitical significance of boxing, fostering reflective dialogues critical to contemporary American society.
