The New World Dance Ensemble will bring a dynamic program of contemporary dance to Aventura with an exciting program of works featuring a solo performance by NWSA professional alumnus, Lloyd Knight. Lloyd is a soloist with New York City’s renowned Martha Graham Dance Company and one of Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 to Watch”. The program will also feature Martha Graham’s powerful group work, “Prelude to Action,” created in 1936 as a “rousing call for unity, action, and believe in our ability to work together toward a better future.” Contemporary ballet choreographer Amy Hall Garner will present her new work, “Influence,” danced en pointe, along with Yusha Sorzano’s driving work, “Aesop’s Children”. Ballet Hispanico’s Michelle Manzanales’ work “Paloma Querida,” a lyrical tribute to the life and work of Frida Kahlo, and Jeffrey Lloyd Smith’s work, “against the current,” will create a vortex of stage energy.
