Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Let Freedom Swing: From Spirituals to Swing brings outstanding jazz artists to community audiences. Inspired by conversations between former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, these concerts explore a wide range of jazz topics through the lens of American history. Let Freedom Swing: From Spirituals to Swing features vocalist Brianna Thomas and trumpeter Alphonso Horne and in a program of spirituals, civil rights anthems and iconic jazz songs from Nina Simone, Duke Ellington and others.
