July 18, 7pm
Books & Books is thrilled to be hosting the novelist, poet, and visual artist Rachel Eliza Griffiths discussing her debut novel, Promise (Random House, $28), in which two Black sisters growing up in small-town New England fight to protect their home, their bodies, and their dreams as the civil rights movement sweeps the nation in this “magical, magnificent novel, that amounts to a secret history of an America we think we know, but never really knew” (Marlon James). The conversation will be moderated by Miami’s very own Marie Vickles, Senior Director of Education at the Pérez Art Museum and curator-in-residence at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. This event is free and open to the public, with free RSVP required. Presented in collaboration with the Perez Art Museum (PAMM). |
