New World School of the Arts college dancers selected for this work will present a Showing of Paul Taylor’s “Piazzola Caldera” at the culmination of a two-week residency with former Paul Taylor Dance Company member, Francie Huber. “Ms. Huber has previously staged Paul Taylor’s works at NWSA, and we are thrilled that she was designated by the Taylor Foundation, as an original cast member, to teach this work to our students, assisted by Jeffrey Lloyd Smith, NWSA dance faculty member” said Dean of Dance, Mary Lisa Burns. Smith is also a seven-year veteran of the Paul Taylor Dance Company performing this work during his tenure at the recognized dance company. Set to the compelling music of Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, this choreography is dramatic and virtuosic. The program will conclude with a Q&A session allowing guests the opportunity to engage in conversation with the directors and dancers. |
