Yeremiah Bell, Dan Carpenter and Chad Henne host Fins and Kids Publix Shopping Spree

Yeremiah Bell, Dan Carpenter along with over 20 current players, alumni, members of the Miami Dolphins Women’s Organization (MDWO) and cheerleaders hosted the Fins and Kids Publix Shopping Spree at a Publix location in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

“It’s always fun around Thanksgiving time and it is a holiday to celebrate families,” said Yeremiah Bell. “Around here, we feel like we are a family and getting out and spending quality times with the students was a blessing. Working with Publix on this is huge. For us to help provide a quality Thanksgiving meal for others is very special.”

Members of the Miami Dolphins gave 100 underprivileged children from Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Schools a $100 gift certificate to shop for a Thanksgiving dinner for their loved ones. They shopped with the children and helped them select the items for their Thanksgiving dinners.

“Publix and the Miami Dolphins have shared a long history of giving back to our local communities, especially to programs that benefit kids,” said Kim Jaeger, Publix Miami Media and Community Relations Manager.  “This is our eighth year doing this event and this is one of our favorites. It is great to see the joy on the kids when they are able to have a great meal with their parents and shop with players from their favorite team.”

Additionally, as part as the Dolphins Military Appreciation efforts, 10 members of the marines will shop with kids as well.

“Tonight was extremely important. It was important for the kids that were here shopping for food,” said Sgt. Scott Schmidt, Marketing and Public Affairs Representative for Recruiting Center, Ft. Lauderdale. “We felt very honored and privileged to have the opportunity to come out here. Seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing that they are going to have a great meal with their family makes it worth it for the Marine corp.”

Others emphasized the emotions of the event was one they would never forget.

“It’s always fun when you get a chance to put a smile on kids face,” added Reggie Bush. “That’s why we are here and this is the most rewarding part of our job.”
