World Trade Center Miami Bucking Trend with Record Participation and Sales for Three November Trade Shows: 12th Americas Food & Beverage Show, 10th Air Cargo Americas and 4th SeaCargo Americas, Sees Economic Upturn Ahead

MIAMI, Oct. 19, 2009 — Charlotte Gallogly, president of the World Trade Center Miami, is reporting record sales for three signature World Trade Center Miami events scheduled for early November (http://www.worldtrade.org) in Miami: the 12th Americas Food & Beverage Show, 10th Air Cargo Americas and 4th SeaCargo Americas. The three international events, targeting food and beverage executives and aviation and maritime CEOs and regulators, are designed to promote and facilitate multi-lateral trade, with a focus on the Americas.

Exhibition space is “sold out” for two shows, and Ms. Gallogly is adding more booth space to accommodate demand. At a time when trade shows worldwide are seeing sales drop by 15 to 40 percent, this performance is good news for the World Trade Center Miami, and an important boost to Miami’s local economy as tourism numbers slide. Each year, the trio of shows brings an estimated 12,000 international business executives to Miami with a four-million-dollar revenue impact to the city.

The biennial Air Cargo Americas Show, now celebrating its 20th year and 10th edition is “sold out” for its November 4-6 presentation dates, as is SeaCargo Americas, an event running concurrently with Air Cargo Americas. The 12th Americas Food & Beverage Show (http://www.americasfoodandbeverage.com), set for November 9-10, has 6,000 attendees and 300 exhibiting companies signed up – near capacity for their floor space at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This is the largest event in the hemisphere for the food and beverage industry, attracting exhibitors and buyers from around the world.

“The numbers for Air Cargo Americas and SeaCargo America are up 15 percent over previous years with the Americas Food & Beverage show up nine percent,” says Ms. Gallogly. “In my opinion, this indicates the economy is bouncing back, and clearly underscores the importance of Miami, the host city, as the trade and logistical capital of the Americas.”

Positioned at the nexus of trade for Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Miami is considered a gateway to trade in the Americas.

For two decades, the World Trade Center Miami has organized and presented international conferences designed to promote multi-lateral trade in the hemisphere. The trade-focused events present a forum for industry leaders and executives to network, problem-solve and do business. The 12th Americas Food & Beverage Show serves as an international “marketplace” for small to mid-sized companies looking to expand through importing and exporting. Collectively, the trade shows have resulted in over $3.5 billion in on-site sales and business transactions.
