Every year on May 13, bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts around the world celebrate World Cocktail Day, and Miami is no exception. This year, some of Miami’s top destinations and hotspots have great drink selections that pay tribute to the art of mixology.

From rooftop bars to beachside lounges, Miami’s bar scene is buzzing with excitement as patrons raise their glasses in celebration of this beloved holiday. Located inside The Standard Spa, Miami BeachMonterrey Bar, celebrates a twist on classic cocktails. The name Monterrey Bar pays homage to the hotel’s namesake roots The Monterrey Motel which opened at 40 Island Avenue in 1953. Curated by Executive Chef Andrew Gilbert are designed to pair with the curated beverage menu, reflecting the cool, dark speakeasy style of Monterrey Bar. The T-shaped bar with Amazonite stone is a dramatic focal point and provides an intimate place to gather. Afromosia wall paneling and plush carpet emulating the ocean are tied together beneath a Murano glass chandelier. The shelves are playfully lined with a pop art collection of 1980s ‘Frozen Moments’ by artist Geoffrey Rose. Come and stay awhile. An expansive black walnut and stone bar is the room’s centerpiece, with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide the only unobstructed view of the ocean at any hotel in Miami Beach. Black walnut-paneled walls are covered with photographs by famed French photographer Lucien Clergue that portray the art of bullfighting, while a thoughtfully crafted cocktail menu pays homage to the art of bartending.
