Widespread Panic At The Fillmore Miami Beach

It’s Jamband heaven when Widespread Panic brings its intense improvisational sound to the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre on Friday September 17th at 9PM.  Bobby Lee Rodgers opens the show.  This is part of the Cruzan Concert Series.

Widespread Panic cut its teeth, like so many of its forebears, on the southern bar circuit, where winning fans and influencing patrons took a unique combination of musical panache and from-the-gut persistence. One of the premier neo-hippie jam bands inheriting the road-warrior mantle left behind by the Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic established a devout grassroots following on the strength of constant touring and a loose, rootsy brand of rock infused by jazz and blues textures.  Widespread Panic offer listeners the sonic equivalent of a dip in a cool mountain stream. At once bracing and cleansing, invigorating and soothing, yet still an emotional travelogue, its ebb and flow evident in every aspect of the instrumental interplay — skittering rhythms, fanciful guitar flights and low-slung melodies alike — as well as the pensive-but-not-ponderous lyrical tone. Panic separated themselves from the crowd by working both ends of the sonic spectrum — crafting tightly-wound and memorable songs and using those as jumping off points for improvisations that turn heads and then keep them bobbing.
